Great Lakes Coal Shipments Drop by 8.2 Percent in 2012

Platts reported that Great Lakes coal shipments fell sharply in 2012 by 8.2 percent, apparently due to falling water levels and a lack of adequate dredging.

As quoted in the market report:

The 2012 total was the least amount shipped in the last six years, and 36.3% off the peak 39,790,490 st shipped in 2008.
