Mining Weekly reported that Mongolia is applying pressure to Rio Tinto by cancelling some mining licenses indirectly linked to the Oyu Tolgoi copper and gold project.
As quoted in the market report:
The cancellation follows a string of complaints by the Mongolian government over OyuTolgoi, which is controlled by Rio Tinto through its Turquoise Hill Resources unit, in the lead-up to a presidential election due in June.
