RBPlat Posts Increased Production Amid Difficult Market Conditions

Mining Weekly reported that in spite of the tough market environment, Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat) posted a 4% increase compared to the previous year in terms of total tons delivered to concentrators, milled tons were higher by 8%, and built-up head grade increased by about 2% during the quarter ended March 31.

As quoted in the company news:

RBPlat attributed the improved performance to a reduction in Section 54 safety-related stoppages, which was down to two during the quarter, compared with seven in the 2012 comparable period, and benefits accrued from the company’s ongoing operational flexibility strategy.
