In its weekly report, Rapaport said that Sotheby’s raised $95.47 million through its Hong Kong-based Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite auction, which took place on October 7. However, it did not sell the 7.59-carat fancy vivid blue diamond that was up for grabs.
As quoted in the market news:
The top lot was an oval-shaped 118.28-carat, D flawless, type IIa diamond that sold for $30.06 million (HKD 238,680,000), or $254,000 per carat. A representative of the auction house stated that the diamond achieved a record price as well.
