Oil – As global oil demand and prices continue to rise, an increasing number of exploration and production companies are choosing to focus their efforts on West Africa. Boasting some of the world’s highest-potential oil and gas reserves, this region is becoming increasingly attractive to investors.
Gas – Reuters reported that Romanian citizens are protesting Chevron's plans to explore for shale gas, and are pressuring the government to withdraw concessions.
Oil – Reuters reported that the world’s largest oil trader, Vitol, reported revenues of $303 billion in 2012, which is a 2% rise from the previous year, in spite of a minimal drop in traded volumes.
Gas – Mining Weekly reported that energy giant Chevron plans to acquire Beach Energy’s assets in the Cooper Basin for $349 million.
Oil – Reuters reported that a Brazilian judge has dropped the criminal charges lodged against Transocean Ltd and Chevron Corp, along with 17 of their employees in relation to the 2011 offshore oil spill.
Gas – Apache Corporation (NYSE:APA, NASDAQ:APA) they have finalized the deal with Chevron Canada Limited to build and operate the Kitimat LNG project.
Gas – Bloomberg reported that Chevron has received a boost on Lithuanian shale-gas exploration plans with support the country's President, despite opposition from residents and other government officials. As quoted in the market report:
