Cardero Announces New Resource Estimate for Carbon Creek

Coal – Cardero Resource has made good on a promise to put out a new technical report for its Carbon Creek joint venture project. Carbon Creek underwent a significant change back in June when Cardero withdrew from a coal lease that made up part of the project, rendering a previous prefeasibility study invalid.

Coal – Low coal prices have put many coal producers underwater, but one company is managing to go against the tide and has even managed to clock big returns this year. Westmoreland Coal Company is up 92 percent year-to-date, and had more good news to report on Wednesday — it just extended a long-term supply agreement for thermal coal from its Kemmerer mine in Wyoming.
