Botswana Diamonds Awaits Licences for Orapa Region Exploration

Diamond – Mining Weekly reported that Botswana Diamonds said its possible joint venture with a “major international diamond producer” is continuing negotiations and still subject to board approval. Currently, it is waiting for the exploration licences so it can start work on newly identified exploration targets on the north-east portion of Botswana, particularly in the Orapa region.

Stornoway Diamond Corporation Releases Optimization Study for Renard Diamond Project

Diamond – Stornoway Diamond Corporation (TSX:SWY) released the Optimization Study for its 100% owned Renard Diamond Project in Québec. The Optimization Study includes certain design refinements (such as the deferral of shaft access for the underground mine and a modified underground mining sequence and draw point design), as well as an updated project development schedule and financial model. The Optimization Study restates the project's Probable Mineral Reserves at 17.9 million carats (23.8 Mtonnes at 75 carats per hundred tonnes, or "cpht").

IDC-Funded Diamond Beneficiator African Romance Closes Shop

Diamond – Mining Weekly reported that African Romance, a company which obtained funding from the Industrial Development Corporation in the amount of R97-million, has ceased operations. The company originally operated with the objective of being able to sell quarter-carat-and-above diamonds at highly competitive prices.
