Gas – Reuters reported that Kenya's first offshore gas discovery, found by Apache Corp. (NYSE:APA), which is operating on behalf of Britian's Tullow Oil plc (LSE:TLW) and Australia-based Pancontinental Oil & Gas NL (ASX:PCL), is not large enough for commercial production.
Gas – Simba Energy Inc. (TSXV:SMB,OTCQX:SMBZF) announced that it has finished the initial phase of field work at Block 2A, a concession located onshore in Kenya that has significant potential for oil and gas discoveries. A report and interpretation of the results are expected in the near future.
Oil – Africa Oil Corp. (TSXV:AOI) announced that it has spudded the Twiga South-1 exploration well at its Block 13T concession in onshore Kenya. Additionally, the company noted that its Paipai-1 well, also in onshore Kenya, is on schedule to spud next month.
Oil – Bloomberg reported that Aidan Heavey, CEO of Tullow Oil plc (LSE:TLW), believes Kenya may have more oil potential than Uganda, although as yet Kenya has no proven reserves.

Rare Earth – Pacific Wildcat Resources Corp. (TSXV:PAW) announced its latest rare earth intersection at Mrima Hill resulted in the highest grades to date.
Oil – Reuters reported that the National Oil Corporation of Kenya and Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation have signed an agreement to evaluate Kenya's onshore petroleum reserves.
Rare Earth – Reuters reported that Pacific Wildcat Resources (TSXV:PAW) said it will commence a drilling program at another high-potential Kenyan rare earth property.
