Platinum – Mining Weekly reported that the proposed merger between Platinum Australia and Jubilee Platinum has moved closer to being finalized, and the former’s creditors’ compromise arrangements will be concluded within three days.

Gold – Mining Weekly reported that Gold Fields Ltd. (NYSE:GFI) and Santa Fe Gold Corp. (OTCQB:SFEG) have signed a definitive merger agreement. The move is a follow up on an October agreement under which the companies decided to form a "significant" gold and silver company.
Lithium – Micron Enviro Systems , Inc. (PINKSHEETS:MSVS), a junior mining company which explores lithium, and Britannia Mining, a mining development company based in the UK announced that all aspects of the merger plan have been approved by the shareholders of Micron.
Silver – International Goldfields Ltd. (ASX:IGS) announced that it will merge with Santa Fe Gold Corp. (OTCBB:SFEG) to create a company focused on producing, developing and exploring for gold and silver. As part of the merger, International Goldfields will advance AU$2 million to Santa Fe within five business days and will pay the company an additional AU$2 million by October 31, 2012.
Gold – B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO) and CGA Mining Ltd. (TSX:CGA) announced that B2Gold will buy CGA for C$1.1 billion to create a merged company that will operate — among other projects — the Philippines-based Masbate gold mine, which is slated to produce 200,000 ounces of gold from June 2012 to June 2013.
Last week, Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund said it wants a higher offer for Xstrata in its planned merger with Glencore. Qatar Holding’s announcement has created a major hurdle in this mega merger, with analysts saying it is likely that Glencore will not up the stakes by as much as Qatar wants.
Gold – On Friday, the board of directors for the TMX Group Inc., the owner of the Toronto Stock Exchange, rejected an offer by a consortium of pension funds and banks, saying it "does not constitute a superior proposal" to a planned $3.2-billion merger with the London Stock Exchange Group PLC.
Potash – The Brock Press reports that the TSE and the LSE have recently entered into discussions on the possibility of a merger.
Gold – Although the potential merger between the two companies that operate the Toronto Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange are within the infancy stages of discussion, the battle lines already appear to be drawn.
