Gas – Canadian pipeline giant TransCanada has penned another multi-billion dollar deal. In doing so, it has once again raised the question of whether pipeline companies are an overlooked investment opportunity.

Oil – Bloomberg reported that following Canada's rejection of PETRONAS' bid for Progress Energy Resources Corp. (TSX:PRQ), shares of Calgary's Nexen Inc. (TSX:NXY) fell 4.4 percent, ending at C$24.04 in Toronto. Investors are concerned that CNOOC Ltd. (HKEX:0883), which wants to acquire Nexen, will also be turned down by Canada.
Gas – The Canadian natural gas market watched with interest as the recent Progress Energy takeover marked the first instance of an Asian investor launching a buyout of a Canadian partner in a gas project.
