Diamond – Harry Winston Diamond Corp. (TSX:HW,NYSE:HWD) announced its fiscal 2013 third-quarter results for the quarter ended October 31, 2012, commenting that its net income totaled $3.4 million ($0.04 per share) compared to a net loss of $4.7 million ($0.06 per share) in the year-ago quarter.
Tungsten – Malaga has placed its tungsten mine on care and maintenance following a power-related accident. Meanwhile, the company is reviewing its plans and searching for financing.
Oil – Zargon Oil & Gas Ltd. (TSX:ZAR,TSX:ZAR.DB) announced its financial and operating results for the third quarter of 2012, commenting that its oil production fell to 7,634 barrels of oil equivalent from 8,290 during the previous quarter. Its natural gas production declined 12 percent compared to the preceding quarter, averaging 15.33 million cubic feet per day.
Silver – Silver put up a strong performance in Q3, but fading excitement has brought the metal under pressure — and that is tugging down prices.
Coal – Corsa Coal Corp. (TSXV:CSO) announced its results for the third quarter of 2012, commenting that it sold 138,000 tons of metallurgical coal at an average realized price of $152 per ton.
Silver – Golden Minerals Co. (AMEX:AUMN,TSX:AUM) announced production results for the third quarter of 2012 from its Mexico-based Velardena operations, commenting that 120,000 ounces of silver were produced during that period. That amounts to a 28 percent increase over Q3 2011.
Silver – Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. (TSX:FVI) announced Q3 2012 production results from its Mexico-based San Jose mine and its Caylloma mine in Peru, both of which it wholly owns. Production for the quarter totaled 1,027,741 ounces of silver, a 53 percent increase over the same quarter in 2011.
Gas – Range Resources Corp. (NYSE:RRC) announced its results for the third quarter of 2012, commenting that its production increased by 47 percent compared to the same quarter of 2011. The company produced 623.3 Mmcf per day of natural gas and 20,040 barrels per day of natural gas liquids.
Oil – PetroBakken Energy Ltd. (TSX:PBN) provided an operational update on its third quarter and announced its plans for this year's fourth quarter, commenting that its average production during Q3 was 38,400 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Gold – There was a bullish turnaround in the gold market in the latter half of Q3. While the market may be at risk of a correction in the short term, bulls continue to dominate and further gains are expected.
