Gold – Relative to the total return of funds within its category, Oppenheimer Gold is top quartile in the US, from the Lipper ranking over 1, 3, and 5 years; and finished in the ultra elite second percentile among Morningstar Specialty-Precious Metal fund over a one year period.
Palladium – Franco-Nevada (TSE:FNV) and Gold Wheaton (TSE:GLW) have announced that they have agreed to a friendly business combination under which, Franco-Nevada will acquire Gold Wheaton for approximately C$830 million in cash and shares.
Gold – Marking a break from established policy, the Chilean government considered a proposal to increase the mining royalty tax, the proceeds from which would be used to aid in earthquake reconstruction. Last month, the Senate rejected the mining tax changes, leaving it up to a joint committee which also failed to reach an agreement on July 7, to proposed changes, forcing the government to seek alternative financing sources for earthquake reconstruction.
